Nature

The Landscape
We are in Skåne (Scania in Scandinavia), in the middle of the region where different types of landscape meet. To the west and south you find the relatively open farming land, to the north and east a landscape with vast forests, ridges and rocks. We are in a place where there is quiet without traffic noise.

The Vedapark project in Gammalstorp is at the edge of the forest, 5 building sites are just outside the forest edge, the remaining are among the trees. There is also a surrounding area of shared land consisting of forest, fields and meadow with a creek running through, in total there are estimated 45 hectares of scenic area, as illustrated here:

The vegetation
The forest is mainly beech trees. We want to enrich the forest, and in order to build the houses and let the light enter, some trees have been removed. It may also be a good idea to eventually plant a number of oak trees, as they give a brighter undergrowth so that for example rhododendrons, hortensia and other bushes and flowers can bloom throughout the spring and summer. It will be good for the village to preserve the feeling of being surrounded by nature. The soil is quite good with clay, the topology is hilly and with some stones - in some places the rock is visible

The lake or wetland
The common ground north of the village will offer a beautiful view through the trees, and leads down to a meadow through which a creek (bæk) meander which is about 2 m wide. We would like to restore the meadow as a wetland/lake which has been there back in time. This provides an additional attraction to the area, as most people like to have views over water. The wetland can cover a large area of probably up to 10 hectares.

We have had informative meetings with the Regional Authorities (Lensstyrelsen) and Lund University on the feasibility of achieving this. Lensstyrelsen has already helped with consulting services, where it appeared that a wetland of this size has a significant balancing impact on wildlife. A brief report describing the lake has been made.
